The aim of these courses is to help support you and your personal needs, to encourage you to set goals and build your knowledge and confidence around the management of your diabetes.

My type 2 diabetes: the online education course

This course is for anyone that has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It aims to give you all the information you need to know, e.g. what is diabetes, targets, complications, prevention, care planning, treatments and lifestyle changes.

Type 2 diabetes prevention

The Type 2 Diabetes Prevention course is aimed at anyone that is at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This course aims to give you the information you need to know about what type 2 diabetes is and how you can reduce your risk of developing it.

Understanding type 1 diabetes

This course is for anyone that has type 1 diabetes. It focuses on what diabetes is, how it is treated, complications, and lifestyle advice. The growing up with type 1 course below provides more information about living with diabetes, especially for young people.

My insulin pump: the online education course

This course is a comprehensive guide which is aimed at people who are actively starting insulin pump therapy or as a refresher for those that are already established on insulin pump therapy.

Considering an insulin pump?

Switching from insulin injections to an insulin pump can be a daunting time for people. This course provides an introductory guide to insulin pump therapy and is aimed at people with type 1 diabetes considering making the switch.

Growing up with type 1 diabetes

This course provides information about living with diabetes, and is especially aimed at young/teenage people, but may be useful for others facing new experiences such as alcohol, sex, driving, going out, becoming an adult and leaving home. It is best completed after the Understanding type 1 course above.

My gestational diabetes: the online education course

This course is designed for women newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes and covers what is happening inside the body, targets, treatment during pregnancy and post-natal care.  It may also be relevant for family members or carers.

Carbohydrate counting

Carbohydrate counting is the skill of matching your mealtime insulin to the amount of carbohydrate in your food. The course is for people using either an insulin pump or multiple daily injections (MDI)/ basal-bolus short-acting insulin with meals and long-acting insulin once/twice a day.
